Everman built a 34-0 lead through three quarters over Joshua as the Bulldogs won their fifth straight, 41-14, to stay tied with Crowley atop District 9-5A while the Owls lost their fourth consecutive game.
It was the J.T. Clark and Keonte Lusk show for the Bulldogs as Clark and Lusk combined to score all six touchdowns for Everman. Lusk led the way with 110 rushing yards, 32 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
The Bulldogs rushed for 256 yards and threw for 145 yards, but perhaps most importantly, Everman won the turnover differential by plus-3.
Joshua rushed for 283 yards but the Owls were one-dimensional as Joshua’s passing game was 2-for-6 for only 23 yards with one interception.
Facing a 34-0 deficit, the Owls got on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard run by Hayden Chittum and a 2-yard run by Mitchell Minton.
Chittum had a huge night for Joshua with 187 yards and a touchdown but not much else worked for the Owls on the night. George Nunn added 50 rushing yards on five carries for Joshua.
After going winless in non-district, Everman has opened District 9-5A play with five straight wins to sit tied with Crowley for first place. The Bulldogs and Eagles meet in week 10. Joshua hosts Burleson Centennial for its home finale in week 10.
